The concept of shared psychosis in pop culture

Please forgive me dear reader, if this entry is laden with lots of psychology as I am on a psychological high as of the moment.

It is no denying that psychology and many of its concepts are already visible in pop culture. There is this one psychological concept that got my particular interest at the moment; it is the concept of shared psychosis also known as Folie à deux. Quoting Wikipedia, Folie à deux is a syndrome in which symptoms of a delusional belief are transmitted from one individual to another.

Yozakura Quartet focus: When should gods take action?

If there’s one thing I enjoyed in Yozakura Quartet, it is the land gods of Sakurashin. I really liked how Suzuhito Yasuda created these characters. Yuhi Shinatsuhiko is a shota looking 200 year old land god who is the town’s district mayor while Yae  Shinatsuhiko is the official land goddess of Sakurashin and is the younger sister of Yuhi and she’s hot, I mean totally.

Smiling: The perfect coping mechanism, an act of misleading.

Today, I’ll take a look on the act of smiling focusing on Soujiro Seta of Ruroni Kenshin.

Soujiro Seta is what you can call as the sunny individual because he always smiles, no matter what the situation. Normal people may regard him as the cheerful type of person and may attract the ladies with his nice smile while more perceptive people may be unsettled by his smile because he is quite an unreadable individual behind the smile.

But why does he have this almost omnipresent smile? Why do we all smile?

On my top 5 anime characters and why I chose them

I would like to write about my top 5 anime characters and why I chose them.

We all have our favorite anime characters, both you and I and we’re drawn to them for a few reasons. It could be because of the sheer awesomeness that they exude such as Kamina Ayato of Guren Langann and Kenshiro of Fist of the North Star, or it could be because of the respect that they command such as Char Aznable of Gundam or it could be because of the mental genius and the complexities that they exhibit such as Lelouch Lamperouge of Code Geass and Light Yagami of Death Note or its could be a combination of the mentioned reasons.
